Introduction to NIR measurement

Near Infrared is an ideal Technology for on-line continuous measurement of moisture in bulk solids, non-woven and web products, also for other constituents; oil, protein and coat- weight through a diverse range of applications. It is a non- destructive, safe form of radiation which doesn’t require direct contact between the hardware and the product.

Application areas

NIR measurement is widely used within the following Industries:

Tobacco, Wood, Food, Minerals, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Biofuels, Animal Feed, Paper & Converting, Non wovens & miscellaneous.

Benefits of online continuous measurement

•Increased productivity
•Improved product quality and consistency
•Increased yield
•Savings in Fuel costs

Products represented

MCT 360 – A stand alone sensor of dimensions: 317 x 175 x 191mm constructed of cast aluminium with a glass viewing window. This is mounted 150-300mm from the product surface. The gauge measures up to three constituents and product temperature simultaneously. The MCT 360 supersedes, and exceeds the MCT 300 performance in terms of measurement speed, processor speed, rate of digital data transmission and increased sensitivity and signal: noise ratio . Other models based upon the same optical bench and electronics are:

On-line gauges

MCT 360-TTobacco gauge
MCT 360-WPWood products gauge
MCT 360-FGFood grade gauge
MCT 360- ATEX 22Atex 22 gauge for hazardous dust environments
MCT 360- ExdExd gauge for hazardous gas environments
MCT 700High temperature gauge
PVDSScanner and profile display system

Off-line gauges

MCT 600Laboratory gauge( incorporating turntable)
MCT 600PLaboratory gauge (viewing static product)
